Weekend Music Video Round-up

Some stuff I've been listening to lately.... now with VIDEO!

The Clash: Still the only band that matters?

You can never really go wrong with The Clash. This is from their appearance at The US Festival in 1983. The whole set can be found here, and is NOT to be missed...Some of the greatest between-song-stage-raps ever. I love how the band is openly against the entire idea of the festival that they are headlining. Also notable as Mick Jones's final appearance with the band.

Ben Folds: Punk Rock for Sissies

I'd like to see Ben Folds get together with ol' Snoop someday. I think they'd make a killer album...

This is from Ben's MySpace show at his studio in Nashville. I dig the acoustic guitar army he's got going, and the "suicide as a set closer" shtick never really gets old, does it?

Matthew Sweet & Susanna Hoffs: Sid n' Susie

If you haven't checked out the collaboration between Matthew Sweet and Susanna Hoffs, I suggest you do so NOW. They have wonderful taste. Here's the only video of them I could find, and its not even a song from the album, so consider it a bonus. Let's hope they're planning a Volume II sometime soon.

OK, has anybody aged better than Susanna Hoffs? And Matthew Sweet is really taking the "Brian Wilson Let Yourself Go" look a bit far. You'd think that working in such close proximity to Ms. Hoffs would inspire one to maybe tone down the fug a little...

Tracey Ullman: Queen of All Media?

Is there anything Tracey Ullman CAN'T do? I frickin' love this song. Say no more.

This just in... Tracey to star in a Dolly Parton-written "9 to 5" Broadway musical? I'll buy THAT for a dollar!

Sunnnnday Morninnnnng

Why Aren't You In Church? Heathen...
You gotta click on the pic.... the music alone is worth it.

This link is for Star Wars geeks only.
I know. It's kind of a stretch, and the author is clearly a prequel apologist, but I have to admit I'm in love with the idea that Chewbacca and R2-D2 know what's going on the entire time, and Han Solo and 3PO are kind of clueless. Now THERE'S your in-between-Episode-III-and-IV television series. Think about it. Intergalactic espionage RULES!
